Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After the amazing experience of  going to Peru to Trek the Inca Trail to Machu Piccu last year to raise money for The National Autistic Society, I have decided to tackle a new challenge for a new cause.

Brain tumours seem to me to be on the increase. More research and study is needed to investigate causes and to help find better, more effective treatments and cures. Patients and their families need support. Brain Tumour UK works in these fields. Check out http://www.braintumouruk.org.uk/

In one of the schools I worked in, I line-managed an amazing woman  - what a bundle of energy and knowledge -  caring and giving, assertive and determined. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour about five years ago. She fought it with surgery, chemo and radio therapy and her own brand of determination. Despite research and great care from family, friends, health professionals and support services, the tumour took a hold again and she sadly died just before  Christmas.

Another work colleague has very recently lost her husband to a brain tumour, after fighting hard for just over two years. It is so sad to see the years they had planned ahead together being taken away.

These cases are just two of many people diagnosed each year with this disease.

More research requires more money.

China is a country that I have never before visited and the opportunity to join a group and explore some of the  sections of Great Wall on foot sounds too good to miss. - especially as it means that I shall be out of the country for a "special" birthday.

Thanks to Classic Tours for making all the arrangements. They were faultless last year in Peru.

The training will do me good - practising what I teach - a healthy life style!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. I have paid all the expenses for the trip so all the money you donate will go to Brain Tumour UK.

This trip is for Amanda and for John Cannon and for many thousands of others.

Thanks.
