My story

 
First of all, a big thank you to everyone for your generous sponsorship.  With your help I’ve raised more than I could have dreamed of for the Perthes Association.  Which as you all know is a cause very important to my family and indeed to all other families touched by Perthes disease. 

 

The run was an experience that I will never forget.  Very challenging, very warm, but equally very rewarding.  There were over 50,000 runners and probably twice that many spectators spread across the 13.1 miles. 

 

The last mile down the seafront at South Shields was incredible as the crowds there were huge and lifted all the runners to the finish.  Just what you needed after 12 hard miles!

 

I was also very pleased to finish the race well within my 2 hour target time (1:48) and being ranked 5078th has encouraged me to consider another challenge in the near future!

 

Thank you all once again for your generosity, for making the day truly memorable and raising money for a great cause!

The Perthes Association is a VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION that relies on charitable donations to support children who suffer from Perthes Associated conditions. Fund raising events such as this enable the association to buy such things as buggies, wheelchairs, trikes and moveable seats, which are loaned entirely free to members.
