UPDATE: Already willing and looking forward to joining our walk, as well as raising monies through their own sponsorship forms are John Mitchell, Gillian O'Neill, Malachy McCracken, Bernard Mackle, Anthony Keating, Kieran Hayes, Brian Mitchell, Paul Mitchell & Nicola Lynch, Stephen Mitchell, Brian McGeary, Karol McGeary, Caoimhe Duffy, Kieran Donnelly, Michelle Clancy, Michelle Gribben and Mairead Mitchell, with hopefully a few more to add. And Mickey looks forward to waving you all off at 10.30am from Donnard Park, Newcastle on Saturday morning, and will wait there until everyone makes it down safely. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This fundraising event, taking place on Saturday 27th August, is a thank you from the Mitchell family and Collegeland O’Rahillys GAC for the help and support given to Mickey Mitchell by the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) in Belfast, the RVH Liver Support Group and King’s College Hospital in London.
Mickey had been ill for a number of years receiving treatment from the specialist liver unit in the RVH. While on the UK liver transplant list Mickey’s condition steadily worsened and although he received excellent care in the RVH in Belfast a liver transplant became his only option and thankfully in February 2011 he received this precious gift of life in King’s College Hospital in London.
Saturday will see family and friends from the local communities of Collegeland and Moy, young and not so young, come together for a 6 mile trek, following the Glen River route up Slieve Donard Mountain, and we are looking forward to the challenge!
