Connect Plus London to Paris Cycle Challenge · 12 February 2013

Willow is the only UK charity supporting seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds by providing unique and positive Special Days. Since 1999 Willow has fulfilled more than 23,500 Special Days for young adults living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and cystic fibrosis.

Story

Someone decided that it would be a great idea for Connect Plus to undertake a noteworthy challenge in 2013. Siezing upon the sporting enthusiasm generated by London 2012, we thought that it would be a great idea to get on our bikes and hop over the Channel and the Connect Plus Big Bike Ride was born. In the true spirit of collaboration, a 'willing' group of highly toned athletes has been brought together from the Connect Plus Community.

All the money we raise as part of the challenge will got to the Connect Plus chosen charity The Willow Foundation. It is the only UK charity to provide positive and life-enhancing special days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds. Every special day aims to provide beneficiaries and their loved ones with a break from the realities of their diagnosis and treatment. At a time of uncertainty, spending quality time with family and friends can help restore a sense of normality, boost confidence and create precious memories for the future. The charity was founded in 1999 by Bob and Megs Wilson as a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Bob Wilson is the former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper and TV presenter.
