CONRADS MARATHON RUN - WITHOUT HIS PITUITARY GLAND

I suffered from a life threatening condition called Cushing’s Disease for approximately 5 years from 2001 to 2006. Cushing’s disease is caused by a tumour on the Pituitary Gland, which is situated in the middle of your head at the base of the brain. I was cured of the disease by having my Pituitary Gland removed following four operations at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

It has been a difficult time for me and the people close to me in dealing with this disease and so I have decided to run the London Marathon on the 25 April 2010 to bring awareness of the problems a pituitary condition can cause, and so help in the early diagnosis of others.

I am running on behalf of the Pituitary Foundation which a charity providing information and support to those living with pituitary disorders, their family and carers. They rely on voluntary income to fund information and other support services.
