Story
We are so excited to have been accepted to recieve a Canine Partner ourselves. After initial assessments a Team dog has been recommended as the best option for us. David has Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and his memory is really badly effected so I will need to prompt him with commands as confusing "lets go now" the command to move off with "better go now" (time to Pee) could be catastropic in the middle of Sainsbury's. Our dog will be able to help David with dressing, fetch the post, bring him the phone and also call for help if he were to fall. David rather likes the idea of two blondes running around after him and I point out that I am rapidly turning grey and he may not get a blonde labrador!
The cost of our dog, training it and lifelong back up and support is thankfully covered by the charity Canine Partners. The full cost of training each dog from puppy to partnership is around £20000.
We are at the beginning of our partnership, completing some final assessments and moving up the list to very soon recieving our very own special partnership which I know will transform our lives.
We will share our story from the start and I intend to tell you about our adventures as they unravel, meanwhile I am writing recipes on my cooking blog and want to organise some collective Dinners by Donation....so if you like to cook why not encourage your guests to donate for an invitation to dinner with you and help me raise funds for Canine Partners.
