My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Costas is living with brain cancer - he has a Glioblastoma Multiforme tumour.

Update on Monday 11th October 2010

It is with great sadness that I write to say that Costas died today. Please continue to read about Andrea's Gift , the brain cancer charity chosen by Costas and know that he would feel proud and touched by even the smallest donation which you make.

We have been so touched by all the messages and donations made so far. Costas suffered dreadfully with his brain cancer, yet remained brave and acted with dignity throughout his illness.

So, if, through giving just a small token to Andrea's Gift, we can make a difference to the treatment and prognosis of other Glioblastoma patients then we can feel that Costas did not die in vain.

A donation of £50 keeps the brain tumour research lab open for 35 minutes. One of those minutes will be all it takes for that break through to be made and for Glioblastoma patients to survive.

Unlike more high profile cancers, brain tumour research is very poorly funded. Less than 1% of funding from Cancer Research UK is allocated to brain tumour research. Therefore, the work of the charity Andrea's Gift is crucial.

Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Andrea's Gift funds Yorkshire's first brain tumour research lab at the Leeds Institute for molecular medicine, supporting a high level research team who will work on long term paediatric and adult brain tumour research projects.

Andrea's Gift also supports families and carers who are also living with the devastating effects of brain tumours.

Every penny you give, using my page, is seen as a personal and loving gesture of support to Costas, myself and our children who have been affected so deeply by Glioblastoma Multiforme. Please help us to support a charity which aims to research a disease for which there is currently no cure.

Thankyou so, so much.

Jo-Anne

My updates 1

It's two years today since Costas died and we remain heart broken. But his legacy lives in his children and the life we lead together, traveling the world and seeing and doing all the things we promised Costas we would do. 'He taught us grace under pressure.'
