My story

Hi, my name's Craig Ellis, and I'm fifteen years old.  In July, I will be taking part in a Youth Expedition to the Sinai. This will take approximately three weeks to complete, and will include a hundred mile hike through the Sinai desert and a week-long project about one aspect of the Sinai itself.

Together, our team of twelve hope to raise one hundred thousand pounds in aid of Woking and Sam Beare Hospices. This money will be enough to allow both Hospices to run a child bereavement service. This service is aptly named 'the YoYo club', to reflect the ups and downs that losing a loved one can often bring.  It is open to all from the ages of five to sixteen, and involves fun and games, but also a time to reflect, and to share your experiences. This club was founded two years ago, after it was realised that the appropriate counselling for child bereavement can prevent serious problems in later life.

As such, we have undertaken the task of travelling to Egypt, where we will be trekking one hundred miles across a virtually empty landscape. In the Desert, we will experience many different things which natives come into contact with almost on a daily basis. These things include: sleeping under the stars, travelling with camels, and suffering extremes of temperature, which are known to often reach well above 45 degrees!

However, before we even set foot in an airport, we each must raise one thousand eight hundred pounds, which will cover the costs of the trip (flights, food, etc.). This will allow us to then focus all of our efforts in raising the one hundred million that the Hospices need, mainly from large companies and businesses.

So please, help me to achieve the money I need to take part in this unforgettaable adventure, and remember: this really is for a worthwhile cause.

Phillip and Scott will be so proud of you. xxx Donation by Wendy (Phillip's Mum) 10/08/07
