On Saturday we, Innes and Matt, are cycling to Barcelona. This is quite a challenge, a few facts:
In total we'll cycle nearly 1000 miles in 12 days Rough Route: Portsmouth-Caen, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Perpignan and finally Barcelona We are self sufficient carrying all equipment including camping / cooking equipment Each day we'll burn near 8000 calories! It has taken hours of planning / I've managed to train a bit (the lack of which only makes it more difficult) It is key to say this is self inflicted pain and therefore asking for sponsorship is a little cheeky but we couldn't let the opportunity pass…. …. Matt's sister Becky and her husband Mike gave up their jobs and lives in the UK in April 2009 to help create a hospital in West Kenya. Becky trains up staff and helps run the hospital, Mike works with the community and is now installing a new water havesting system in the local village. They drive an old school Land Rover and it forms the role of the hospital ambulance. Becky often goes bouncing across pot holes to pick up or take serously ill patients. They would love to leave the Lond Rover when they return in 2012 but that takes £3500. We want to help.
