I have just returned from a flying visit to India where I spent 4 days cycling 200 miles through the hilly district of Coorg! This was done to raise money for a charity called Heal. It was one of the toughest things I've ever done but completely worth it when I got to visit the Heal children's village and see where the money goes.
Heal is a small UK charity looking after orphaned and underprivileged children in Andhra Pradesh in India. Check out the Heal website at http://www.heal.co.uk/.
Thank you for donating! Carly Gilchrist and I have now combined our fundraising efforts and so have a joint page which we are asking people to donate on. So to see a more up-to-date total, go to www.justgiving.com/CarlyandLaura. The money donated on this page will still go towards our total though and is still very much appreciated!
To read about Cycle India visit: http://www.heal.co.uk/about-cycle-india.html
Heal is working hard to take children out of child labour and helping them get a good education so they can escape the cycle of poverty. All the money raised from Cycle India 2010 will be used towards HEAL's biggest ever project - a new model residential school for 1000 orphaned and underprivileged children.
So please show your support and give generously! Thank you.
If you would like to enjoy a night of curry and Indian entertainment whilst supporting Heal further, come along to "A Taste of India" at the Surma restaurant, Hiolliers Walk, Hinckley on Saturday 30th January 2010. Tickets cost £12 and include a 3-course Indian meal (English food available on request), entertainment and the chance to see some photos from our trip. You can buy tickets from myself; from Carly; at the Surma, or at the Prince of Wales Inn, Coventry Road, Hinckley.
