Story
On Sunday 1st July 12 of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service's finest athletes will participate in a 1-mile open-water swim in Manchester's Salford Quays. Judi Beresford, Louise Brown, Lisa Billam, John Cooke, Katy Doohan, Ceri Gray, Kate McLaughlin, Gary Platts, Jo Platts, Louise Shelton, Matt Sisson and Amy Thorpe (perhaps you can decide who "finest" and "athlete" applies to!) have committed to swim the mile to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The large majority of our team has had no experience of swimming in open water and swimming such a distance...
We need your support to help us through it!
Please dig around and donate what you can to support this worthwhile cause, a charity which supports the communities we work and live in, a charity which is naturally close to our hearts. Please be generous - the trauma involved in getting in and out of wetsuits is worth sponsorship in its own right!
If you are unable to donate, why not join us? There are still places available at the swim and if you are interested in joining our team, please contact Amy via email: BFund@derby-fire.gov.uk - Team Derbyshire is not exclusive, it is not watch or rank specific. Both support and operational staff have come together, our aim and drive is simple; to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
