This has not been an easy task recruiting runners, (a lot of the volunteers have never owned a pair of running shoes) but when people knew the purpose of St Luke's many stepped forward. </span><span style="color: black; font-family: &amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;quot;,&amp;quot;serif&amp;quot;; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: &amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;quot;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"> </span></p>

Their aim is to control their symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life – all free of charge. Only a third of the funding comes from the NHS with over 80% of funds going directly on patient care. In today's economic climate they are relying on organised fundraisers like this and contributions more than ever.</span></p>

Many of our runners have incurred injuries during training these include torn muscles, in growing toe nails and chaffed nipples - but are still determined to run the race (despite never having ran more than a few yards). So please show your admiration for the commitment from our DLA runners, dig deep and sponsor as much or as little as possible. </span></p>
