Story
A huge thank you from "Team DTZ" for all the support and encouragement you have shown in your sponsorship and also coming out to support us over the weekend. I can happily confirm that we all made it safely across the finish line into a sunny Bridlington on Sunday afternoon. Below is a link to a selection of photographs taken throughout the weekend. Please be warned, there is a lot of tight lycra on show, so you may wish to seek medical advice before viewing!
A team of 30 staff (27 riders and 3 support crew) representing the Leeds and Manchester offices of DTZ are taking part in the ‘Way of the Roses’ Coast to Coast bike ride challenge between the 5th – 7th October 2012. We will start with our back wheel in the Irish Sea at Morecambe Bay on the West Coast of the UK on the Friday morning and cover 178 miles over three days, ending with our front wheel in the North Sea at Bridlington on the East Coast (route maps attached below).
The team will be raising money for 2 charities, predominantly LandAid and in particular LandAid Day on 11 October 2012; DTZ’s corporate chosen charity and “the property industry charity”, helping young and disadvantaged people in the UK to have access to the buildings, skills and opportunities they need to achieve their potential. We will also be raising funds for NWCSG, a children’s charity support group working alongside disadvantaged children and also those with special needs, to provide support and social events for them and their families.
The route, Britain’s longest coast to coast distance, will take us over the Pennines and Yorkshire Dales, passing through the historical cities and towns of Lancaster, Settle, Pateley Bridge, Ripon and York, tackling en-route some particularly challenging terrain and hills (the highest of which is 1,312 feet!), so your kind donations, encouragement and thoughts will help the team going through these particularly challenging sections!
Day 1 – Morecambe to Malham, 43 miles
Day 2 – Malham to York, 72 miles
Day 3 – York to Bridlington, 63 miles
DTZ have very kindly offered to match up to £1,000 per individual taking part in the challenge, so the amount you personally donate will be matched by DTZ.
Regular updates will be provided by both the riders and support team throughout the challenge, further information will be provided in due course.
Many thanks for your kind donations from all of us. The team:
