My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are running the Bristol 10k to support Reach South Africa who work with communities to support schools, child headed families and projects such as allowing a family to set up a bakery or begin chicken farming amongst many others. Recently it has come to light that a lady in a shanti town for the past 18 years has been teaching 50+ pre-school children in a shack 6 metres by 4 metres. She does this with no equipment, tables or chairs and a small part of the wall painted black to act as a blackboard. Her passion has been to get children off the streets, to take them away from abuse and give them a chance in life and we would very much like to help her continue this valuable work. Your donation will go towards supporting this lady by providing equipment such as tables chairs, pens paper etc. If enough money is raised Reach South Africa is hoping that through all their 10k runners they will be able to build a purpose built room for this lady to continue her good work. Thank you for your support.
