I'm attempting the London Triathlon this year.
I saw my brother Colyn do it last year and he said that while he was training, he could eat and drink pretty much whatever he wanted. I thought, that would suit me ! They're two of my most favourite things in the world. I'm sure there were other reasons for doing it too, but they are fairly high up there... Oh yeah, I was getting fat.
I rang my darling wife Therese from the event in August last year to announce my intentions. She showed her support and love by nearly peeing herself laughing.
So anyway, I'm going for the Sprint distance. That's makes it sound a bit short, but it's a challenge for me. It's 750m swim, followed by 20Km cycle and 5Km run.
The swim shouldn't be a issue as I swam at club / county level for years and the cycling is getting better. It's really just the run which could present a problem. I am crap, and always have been crap and plodding one foot in front of the other. Oh well, just have to get on with it I guess.
