Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This December, Charlotte, Shimpei and I have decided to run for a charity which supports my own family, Endometriosis UK.
You may not have heard of Endometriosis but it affects approximately two million women in the UK. It is the name given to the condition where cells like the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. During a woman's monthly cycle, the hormones stimulate the endometriosis, causing it to grow, then break down and bleed. This internal bleeding, unlike a period, has no way of leaving the body. This leads to inflammation, pain, and the formation of scar tissue.
Currently, there is no cure for endometriosis. The different treatments available aim to reduce the severity of symptoms and improve the quality of life for a woman living with the condition. Endometriosis UK is the UK’s leading provider of support and information on endometriosis. They provide services that enable those with endometriosis to understand their disease and to take control of their condition.
As endometriosis affects my family, I have attended a conference organised by this charity. It was very apparent to me how much support Endometriosis UK gives to affected women and how much they need funding to continue research into this condition. It is therefore a very valuable charity to make a small donation to this Christmas.
On a lighter note, I have been training for the past month and am struggling! My goal this time round is to try and beat Charlotte and/or Shimpei but I feel I may be a little over-ambitious! The three of us will be dressed as Father Christmas just to add to the challenge.
So, please, make a small donation (even just a couple of pounds) to this very worthy charity. They really do need your support.
Thank you and see you on the finishing line!
Dani
