It started with a jog round the block, then progressed to the 5k race for life, then on to the Capital 10K run, then the 13.2 mile run to the beat, now 26 miles of madness in the London marathon!!! & I STILL don't have legs like a super model!
Please sponsor me to fulfill my warped ambition of running the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April in aid of the homeless charity Big Issue. Since its creation The Big Issue Foundation has worked with over 10,000 homeless people (vendors). The Big issue offers these people the opportunity to earn an honest living and get their lives back on track. Homelessness is a wide scale problem that affects so many people and August 2009 saw the largest ever increase in vendors with 500 new homelessness and vulnerably housed people registering to sell The Big Issue. Here are some other shocking statistics:
The average life expectancy of a homeless person is just 46 yrs of age.
The top 3 causes of homelessness are as a result of a relationship break down, debt or having left institutions like the army, or care.
1 in 3 vendors are mugged in the street for all their earnings. Imagine if you had a 1 in 3 chance of being mugged in your job (Big issue Vendors have to buy their magazines up front for 70p- they are not given them).
The average person is only 2 pay packets away from homelessness!

Basic training
Re-housing
Financial independance
Health care...and much, much more.
