When I said I would run the Nike MK Half Marathon back in October, I never thought it would actually happen - truly I didn't.  Now, in a matter of days, I will be covering Milton Keynes - on foot!

This is a massive challenge for someone like me and I am wondering how on earth am I going to do it... What is going to keep me going for 13 miles? (Aside from a pocket full of jelly beans!)

After a lot of thinking (whilst pounding the treadmill), I think there are two things that will keep my feet moving and the mile-markers pass by; firstly, my Dad and secondly, all the friends and family who have supported and encouraged me over the past few months.

In 2004, my Dad passed away at Willen Hospice and ever since I have wanted to give something back for everything they did when he was ill.

Watching someone die is very hard - all you want to do is take their pain away and make them comfortable - help them in any way you can.  In Dad's last few days, Willen did just that and it was those little things that made all the difference; his own duvet and pillows, a few pictures on the wall, a radio so he could listen to the football and a box of Maltesers on his bedside table.

I don't think Dad would agree with me taking part in the MK Half as I'm not at my peak fitness - far from it in fact.  He would however, support my passion and enthusiasm for everything and anything I put my mind to and taking on a half marathon is no exception.  If I say I am going to do something, I 'just do it'! - FACT.

There is no obligation to donate, your support is encouragement enough.  Having said that, if you would like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated by me, Willen Hospice and all the patients who receive their care and love, now and in the future.

You can donate online with a credit or debit card 24 hours a day, it couldn't be easier.  Just click 'Donate now'

Thank you all (and wish me luck)...
