600+ young men are having their last few days at home.. Then it's off to Afghan for a few months. These are the young men of 40 Commando Royal Marines. We all know how crap it is before we deploy anywhere, let alone to a hot and dangerous War Zone. In 9 days I'll do another Ironman to raise funds for the RMCTF to support those lads who need it when they return. Please help me out. Thank you.

I know I've been a massive pain this last 6 month, asking for support for the RMCTF- wounded Royal Marines, and various other charities like Cancer Research & H4H, and Children's Hospice UK. In 2weeks time I will do Ironman Wales, having already done Ironman UK last month, then I will stop fund raising and filling your time lines up! So far this year I've raised nearly £17,000 a lot of that has come from complete strangers, which is pleasing as it just shows the support out there for the Armed Forces; and the rest has come from many of you kind people who know me. So thank you very much for the support. When you get involved in this kind of stuff, you soon realise how lucky we all are, especially when I see some of the people these charities work so hard to support. It's pay day for many of you today, so if you haven't donated yet and wish to do so the link is easy to follow; or you can text RMRM64 £1-10 to 70070 Even the odd QUID thrown in adds up! I'm not exaggerating when I say these charities need our support massively! I've seen with my own eyes. On 16th Sept, just 6 weeks time, I'm doing IRONMAN WALES because Joe Townsend (double amputee) thanked me personally for the money we have raised for charities which allow him to rehabilitate and get into sport. 40 Commando Royal Marines also deploy to Afghan again in September, fingers crossed they will get through without a scratch. But there are many who have gone before who still need OUR help. I cracked IRONMAN UK last Sunday, and we've got over £13000 now so... Dig deep friends and colleagues; and I'll keep cracking the phys! Thank you :)

I've gone and entered the UK Ironman Ultra Distance Triathlon AGAIN, which is a 2.4 mile swim immediately followed by(if I haven't drowned) a 112 mile bike followed by a 26.2 mile run! Yes it's going to hurt A LOT! In fact is already hurting, the training is relentless.

40 Commando Royal Marines will soon be back out there; the tours are coming thick and fast, and so are the casulaties who need OUR support.

The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) is the overarching Royal Marine charity and money raised can be used for very wide purposes, probably the widest of any service charity.

The RMCTF helps in many ways, including:

Recovery Pathway

Helping the wounded and injured in any way we can, particularly as the most severely injured begin their transition into civilian life; quite simply, the RMCTF will help when others cannot.

Decompression/Quality of Life Pathway

Helping those still serving and facing successive tours in high threat environments - providing adventure training for those returning from operations, funding homecoming events, financing memorials, maintaining our heritage etc.

Through Life Pathway

Continuing the same level of support and care once the beneficiaries break their formal links to the Corps.

Sadly, but importantly, the RMCTF also provides a grant to the next of kin of those who die in service within 48 hours of the event.
