Those close to me will know myself, my fiancee Gill and our families, experienced a painful loss in July 2011 when Gill's cousin Sarah Murray sadly lost her battle against Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Following a double lung transplant approximately three years ago, Sarah developed chronic rejection from her transplant and the lasting effects regretably resulted in Sarah passing away - Sarah will be soley missed and we think about her every day.

Sarah was a beautiful 26 year old, with an uncanny sense of humour (after all, she held the heart of Scotland within her) and all Sarah wanted was to help others and support those closest to her. She was like a 2nd sister to my fiancee Gill and her sister Lesley-Ann.

Sarah was taken away from us far too soon, but offered so much to those with good health and those who were also suffering with CF. Sarah was a keen fund raiser herself, She was well known at the Freeman's hospital in Newcastle and Edinburgh Hospital in Scotland.

During Sarah's last hours, I pondered and prayed to be able to help her, but my questions could not be answered!

I want to doing something that will raise the profile of CF, raise lots of funds for those who are living with the condition, and hopefully assist with the development of medicine and technology to allow sufferers to live an able life and do all the things they wish to do.

Both Gill and I are preparing to mountain bike 26 of Britains official trail centres in 26 weeks. Thats one ride ride for every year Sarah was with us. Each trail centre will consist of a minimum 8-10 mile ride with most incorporating anything between a 400ft - 2000ft hill climb.

Like most CF sufferers, Sarah lived a lot of her life with limited lung capacity, shallow and fast breathing and gasping for air, these physiological responses will sum up pretty much how Gill and I will be feeling when we tackle these trail centres, but for ever breath we take, Sarah will be driving us both to complete the hill climbs and the miles.........

I hope you wish to sponsor this page, myself and Gill and allow us both to complete this challenge and raise much needed funds for the CF Trust.

I will post a short blog following every ride and post loads of pictures of the challenges we face.

We are planning to begin this challenge (26 trail centres in 26 weeks) starting January 2012. This gives us enough time to train and plan our routes, BUT YOU CAN START DONATING NOW!
