Men of Milford veteran, Dave, is a seasoned campaigner when it comes to raising funds for the Samson Centre, having completed the London to Brighton bike ride and British London 10k for us back in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Being such a competitor, Dave simply could not resist the challenge to accompany his son, James, when the John O’Groats to Lands End gauntlet was thrown down last month.
On 31 May 2010, Dave will be entering ‘Eddie Izzard’ territory in terms of his lack of intended preparation as his knees are now, as he puts it ‘shot to pieces’. James is in slightly better shape, having low mileage (and years!) on his side but this experienced BMX-er will not lack for grit when the going gets tough, as it’s sure to do at some point along the gruelling 874 mile journey. We are extremely grateful to both of them for putting their bodies on the line in the interests of the Samson Centre. As a relatively small charity, we have had to work incredibly hard to develop this unique facility but it is the bedrock of support from our members, families and philanthropic friends like Dave and James that ultimately makes the difference!
