Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you probably already know I'm due to run my first (and hopefully last!) marathon on Sunday 6th September. Not for me the tawdry spectacle of the London or New York events. Instead I've plumped for the dubious charms and seaside smells of Margate, Ramsgate and Westgate.

It's only recently that I've felt even remotely confident of being able to get to the end of 26.2 miles and so this page is fairly last-minute. Now however, I've got to the point where I feel I can make a direct appeal to your wallet on behalf of a charity which is close to my heart. If you could possibly be persuaded to donate I'd be extemely grateful, but perhaps not as grateful as the people and families that the Williams Syndrome Foundation supports through its work. William's Syndrome is a pretty rare disorder affecting only around 1 in 25,000 births and as a result it is not something about which there is widespread awareness. In spite of this the foundation is able to provide invaluable information and support for families who have children with Williams Syndrome.

And now for the JustGiving blurb...

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.
