Story

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">Type 1 diabetes can occur at any age, but is most commonly diagnosed in infants and teenagers. It occurs when the body&rsquo;s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. What causes the immune system to do this is not entirely known. People with type 1 diabetes must inject insulin several times each day and are affected by a number of issues. These are related to health and lifestyle. C<span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">hanges in diet or exercise can help to manage the condition but cannot prevent or cure it. Only research will achieve this. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">Since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2010 I have developed an understanding about the impact the condition has, both on the individual and for their loved ones. The work of the JDRF to educate about type 1 and attempt to </span><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">find the cure for the condition (and its complications) is vital to many sufferers, particularly children, and also to their support network. Research has already led to great improvements in managing type 1 diabetes and improving quality of life. Funding future advances in technology and research will eventually result in diabetes being curable.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">I appreciate any contribution you can spare to sponsor me</span><span style="color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: &#39;Times New Roman&#39;; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">.</span></p>
