Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm currently in training for my first 'Half IronMan' having been 'coerced' into it by a fellow colleague (in reality we worked on each others ego's). It is only now that I realise I should have done this 20 years ago when I was far fitter and without sore knees. My wife initially thought I had gone mad or was suffering a mid-life crisis however she is now trying to set me up for my next challenge and is suggesting 43 marathons like Eddie Izzard...we shall see? Firstly, I must complete the 1.8km Swim, 90km Bike and 21km in the arid Australian countryside (where the temp will be between 30C and 40C on the event day).
The charity I am supporting is called LUCIA (Life Uplifted by Change In Africa). This a small Birmingham based charity run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers. One of these is my Aunty who formed the charity after being struck by the poverty in Ethiopia whilst visitng her son (my cousin) who worked out there for the UN, at the time. The aim of the charity is to improve the lives of the people living in poor areas of Africa.
So please donate generously in the knowledge that:
a) it is going to a good cause or
and/or
b) it is going to cause me a great deal of pain to complete the event...but it will be worth it
