Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for 'The Blue Monarchs'. The four of us Debbie Baston, Katy Parker, Sam Robertson and Katherine Sutlieff have decided to enter the 'Three Peaks of Yorkshire Challenge' on Saturday May 15th.
WE HAVE DONE IT!! We completed the challenge on the 15th May, in 11 hours and 18 minutes. Its was hard at times but the team work kept us going and we crossed the finish line altogether plus the odd blister hear and there.
Thank you all for your surport for this very worth while cause.
We have chosen to support a very special charity called Sands and we will be doing the event in memory of Debbie and her husband Marks first baby ^Rory Baston^. Rory died following an extremely traumatic birth. He clung on to life for 5 short days. Debbie and Mark's world quite literally fell apart the day Rory died and became a very dark and frightening place. The support Sands offered was crucial, and through the website and support network Debbie and Mark were able to meet other bereaved parents and so did not feel quite so alone.
Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy. Incredibly in the UK today, in spite of medical advances, many parents continue to have their lives turned upside down by the death of their baby. 17 babies a day are stillborn or die within the first twenty eight days of life. Sands helped Debbie and Mark through the very darkest and most difficult times of their lives.
