We provide practical and emotional support to improve life for seriously ill children.

Story

When I was 11 years old my Uncle Keith ran the London Marathon and I was so inspired by him and I thought 'One day I am going to do that'.......... At last that day has arrived, let me tell you it hasn't been plain sailing securing a place, this is my fifth attempt and thanks to WellChild for offering me a place and my Uncle Keith who introduced me to this amazing charity, as he raised £2500 in 2012.

For those of you who haven't heard of WellChild, it is the national charity for sick children. They provide essential practical and emotional support for seriously ill children, young people and those who care for them across the UK to ensure they receive the best possible quality of care.

“Kidney” was the original name of WellChild which was set up in 1977 by an individual whose friend’s daughter had died of kidney disease. Their aim was to fund research into kidney disease.

Following a major strategic review in 2003, WellChild’s strategy was developed to offer more support to sick children. In addition to medical research WellChild identified a need for further care and practical support for sick children and their families.

So logistics......

As part of my fundraising I intend to run up Mount Snowdon with my Uncle carrying a bucket, and ask walkers, climbers, hikers, basically everyone we see to donate or we will push them down the mountain, so no pressure!! We are currently in the process of weekly car boots!! Thanks to my Mum & Dad for giving up their Sunday mornings ;-)

My daughter Courtney is doing a sponsored onesie weekend, where she will wear her onesie everywhere she goes! We are doing coffee mornings; raffles; collection boxes; football cards and my Uncle owns Monty's fish and chip shop in Leek, and he'll be doing battered chocolate bars with all proceeds going to WellChild and will also do a WellChild meal deal, where the customers will have a choice to donate.

I am constantly thinking of other fundraising ideas, so I will keep you posted as to what's on the agenda over the next few months, as well as the gruelling training I have in store.

Obviously donations are pretty crucial to this being a success so anything at all you can manage would be absolutely amazing.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, your support and encouragement means so much to me and the children; families and staff at WellChild.
