For those of you who don't know, I recently returned from a volunteer trip to Nepal, where I was lucky enough to work with the amazing kids at Asha Nepal. These kids are the dependents of survivors of human trafficking in Nepal and India -- they live separately from their parents for a variety of reasons. Some are the products of human trafficking; others' mothers are not financially or emotionally stable enough to raise their family. There are currently 20 children living at the home run by Asha Nepal.
My fundraising efforts are aimed at raising money for all of the kids at the Asha home to attend the Skylark English School in Dhaphasi Heights, Khatmandu. This school provides the most supportive educational environment for the Asha children and will also allow the Asha staff to maintain the best oversight on the kids' education, due to a strong relationship between Asha and the Skylark staff. The Principal of Skylark has always been the most socially aware educator in the area and understands the needs of children from a tough background. Currently, at other schools, some of the children complain of being discriminated against by their teachers and their peers because of their backgrounds. Skylark will offer the children a much safer, more supportive environment to get their education.
It costs approximately US$250 (=160 British pounds) per year for each child to attend Skylark. Currently, at least seven more of the Asha kids need to attend Skylark. New children arrive to live at the Asha Children's Home every few weeks!

Fundraiser to benefit Asha Nepal.
Asha Nepal offers safe haven, psycho-social support, healthcare, legal support, & education to women rescued from human trafficking in Nepal & India. Asha Nepal runs three homes in Kathmandu, Nepal - a women's shelter, an older girls' hostel & a children's home for the dependents of trafficking survivors.
The proceeds from the event will go directly into an education fund for the 20 children at the Asha Nepal children's home. The goal is for every child at the home to attend Skylark English School in Dhapasi Heights, Kathmandu. It costs US$250 for each child to attend the Skylark School each year.
To maximize the amount of money to donate to the charity, we will only be able to accept cash and checks at the fundraiser event.
