On November 1st 2007 my mum died as a result of a brain tumour.  She was a great mum, very loving, caring, and was always there for us.  I am truly blessed to have been her daughter.

I am raising money for the Dr Hadwen Charity:  The leading UK Medical Research Charity which funds exclusively non-animal research techniques.  Having lost my mum to a brain tumour I believe that research into cancer and other terrible diseases is an essential part of our social development.  The pain of losing someone before their time is something many families share.  However as a committed Vegan I am also passionate about caring for our animals and our planet.  I believe that compassion to all living things would make our world a nicer place to be.   Caring about others and wanting to prevent suffering is a quality I am proud to say that my mum instilled in me at an early age and I carry her values with me to this day.

The Dr Hadwen Trust combines both my support for medical research with my passion for animal rights and the environment.   Not only are they making advances with medical research into conditions such as brain tumours, but they promote the ideal that you don't need to use defenceless animals to find cures for the ailments of the human race.

As part of the fund raising target I am going to be doing some long distance treks next year and want to start raising money now.   In March 2010 I am going to do the Homenaje which is a 21km trek over the mountains in Spain.  I will be doing this with a friend.  I also plan to do The Pennine Way in 2010 which is 270 Miles of fell walking starting in Derbyshire and finishing up in Northumberland.    As always I will keep everyone posted.
