Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Back in November 2008 I decided to take part in the Artemis Highland 100 Challenge 2009.

I love cycling.I love the Highlands and I was looking for a challenge to scare me into getting fit.

So far so good.

The challenge is a 82 mile circular cycle from Kenmore to Killin.Apparently 70% of the route is on minor roads but 40% of the time spent cycling will be off road.I've had a go at parts of the route and the scenery is fantastic.

The route goes from Kenmore up past Schiehallion then round Loch Rannoch. It then goes off road by the 'Coffin Route' to Inverwick  (where I've been promised coffee and cakes-spot the serious athlete). Then the route goes off road again around Loch Lyon.

Apparently there is then a free bar at the finish but I have a feeling that even a vapour of alcohol at that stage will be enough to finish me off.

I am in a  team with Stephen Bellward and Aileen Alexander all  from the Group Legal Department  at Aegon .

I have a support team as well. Thanks to Donna Tomlin and Jacq Spillane for coming  to support me . I 'm looking forward to their banter and the usual exchange of verbal abuse. It should keep my spirits up though they're unlikely to be on duty when I get the 5.45am bus to the Start .I'm sure they'll make it to the cakes/refreshment stop at  Inverwick about lunchtime and will be showing  how good folks, who have not cycled 82 miles, can look at the ceilidh afterwards .I'm really looking forward to their  moral support , if not their bike repair skills.

Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement to date.

The charities that are benefitting from the money are the Childrens Hospice Association Scotland and Cancer Research UK.
