Well if you are at this page you should know the score by now. Here we go again you may be thinking?
I am going back - Last year I DNF the Namibian Ultra at 90KM of 126KM. I have to say it was a life changing event - It is not often that you get to see the worst and the best of yourself in 24 hours. I can assure you that at noon, when I just about crawled through my first marathon and I couldn't get enough water down my gullet to surpress the constant atomic rays of the 46 degree unforgiving sun - I was very near my worst.
Over the next one and half marathons I did not get any lower, nor any higher. But the whole event, the people, the challenge, the training, the fund raising, the people who ran for me, my new and incredible desert friends, my humbling DNF - That showed me at my best.
I can assure you each lesson was worth the journey alone.
I will always do these events I think. Damn, you may say. But they are part of me now, probably until I drop. I won't always be asking for sponsorship (really, really, really promise) - but it has been such a mad year for me and a lot of the people in my life, both friends and family - I think the training and the working towards completion of the single event is worthy of the ask.
There is no real target - Just give what you can. £1, £10, £100 - or just a few best wishes will suffice.
Thx for visting my page - you are the best - and I love you for it.
Hope your 2010 is safe, calm and happy.
