On 14th March I will be participating in the Nottingham to Derby 26km Kilomathon, to help raise money for the Rainbows Hospice.

Rainbows is the only children’s hospice in the East Midlands. They provide respite, palliative and end of life care for children and young people with life limiting illnesses, as well as support for the whole family.

They are currently expanding the Hospice, with a £4million extension to allow for better facilities, a hydrotherapy pool and rooms for young people up to the age of twenty-five. This is so important in allowing them to continue caring for young people as they reach their life expectancies.

People running the Kilomathon will be helping to support life limited children to enjoy their lives and receive specialist care. The Hospice requires more than £2.8million each year to continue offering these services, of which less than 8% is received in statutory funding. This means that the support of people like me is essential in helping them to care and enrich the lives of children and young people who need it most.
