Story
Diabetes is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today, and Diabetes UK is the leading charity for over 3.5 million people in the UK with diabetes.
On Sunday, 27 March David, Elaine, Fiona, Jemma, Julie and Patrick took part in the 2011 Newham London 10k run to raise awareness of the condition, and to aim to raise £1000 to adopt a Diabetes UK research project. We are supporting researchers to generate the first generation prototype of an 'artificial pancreas' system which will aim to improve glucose control at home and reduce the risk of overnight hypos in adults with Type 1 diabetes.
We trained outside of office life for an interesting and personally challenging 10k run which involved passing in front of the Olympic Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremony, as well as track and field events, will take place for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
We are delighted to have reached well beyond our target in order to help improve the lives of people with diabetes. We would like to say thank you very much to everyone who has sponsored and supported us. You played a very important role in our achievement.
