Skydive · 3 January 2013

ActionAid is an international charity working with women and girls to create a more just, equitable and sustainable future. We work across the world with local communities, women's networks and other allies to support women and girls as they tackle injustices and claim their rights.

Story

ON SAT 1st JUNE I will skydive for charity! Yikes!

Hi I'm Diana, 22yrs old and work full time in property.

I've been a child sponsor with ActionAid since 2008. After having had the once in a lifetime experience of meeting face to face with my sponsor child (Linnet) in December 2012; I decided that I had to do something extra for ActionAid!

ActionAid are doing a fantastic job in the Chiyendambuya area in Zimbabwe where Linnet lives. They have recently implemented a borehole system for the people in the local community to use; and are currently building a classroom at Linnet's school which will cater for special needs children who need that little bit of extra support.

Most classes at Linnet's school have an average teacher to pupil ratio of 1:60 with some classes having even higher ratios!!! (Imagine 60x7yr olds to one teacher! Brave! :-o !!)

Therefore children who have learning difficulties rarely get the assistance they need in order to develop the necessary skills needed to excel in life. The money I raise will help towards communities like this.

Just remember : Every Little Helps! I need your support...

I'll take care of the skydiving bit... (yikes!!)

• £25 could supply water to 250 people for four days in East Africa
• £50 could give 100 children in Uganda sports equipment like footballs, volleyballs and nets
• £100 could run a medical hospital in India for 5 days, treating over 1000 people
• £200 could provide a school of 1,000 pupils in Malawi with a guaranteed meal of nutritious porridge for two weeks
