Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be celebrating my 55th birthday this year so I decided to set myself a personal challenge whilst raising much needed funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as our 26 year old son, Richard, is a sufferer of the disease. I have therefore registered to try and climb Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak at 5896m and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. The climb takes place from 15th October- 24th October and to take part in the Cystic Fibrosis Challenge I am asked to raise a minimum of £3,600 in sponsorship money for the charity which has to be sent by the end of August so you will have to trust that I will do it and not be defeated by fatigue and altitude sickness!
Cystic Fibrosis is the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited disease. It clogs the internal organs with sticky mucus making it hard to breathe and digest food and making the sufferer very susceptible to repeated chest infections. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK’s only national charity dedicated to all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis. It aims to ensure appropriate care for those with CF whilst funding medical research into the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis. At the moment it is an exciting time in CF research as medical trials have begun on CF patients using gene therapy which hopefully in the future will help to eradicate the symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis.
Please could you help me to reach my £3,600 target for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by sponsoring my challenge to conquer Kilimanjaro.
