You'll all know I lost a hell of a lot of weight in the past 2+ years and last year in a bid to get fitter, I ran a 10k race for cancer research I was amazed at how much I enjoyed training for the race and then someone at work (Marc Patton thanks!) said if I ran it in under an hour he'd treble his sponsorship, I did and he duly did! Anyway there was much talk of a London Marathon attempt (NOT by me I might add) and I did think at the time I could have run a bit further, so I looked about and found a link to the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on The Alzheimers Society Website, It looked like it would suit me down to the ground, falling the 1st weekend in October (Sunday 7th October) which meant I could train through the summer (I don't like running in the cold or rain) and also fit a 10k in halfway through training (The Great British 10k http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk/ ) So I put my name in the ballot then had to wait until January 31st to find out if I'd been successful, I'd already decide to run for The Alzheimers Society as I know they are struggling for funding and think they are a very worthwhile cause.

Then just after Christmas we found out John's Mum (Joan Everett) had Alzheimers and the offers of help and leaflets sent by them meant a lot to John and his brothers, so I run to say thank you too.

***Sadly Joan Everett passed away on Sunday May 6th, I will now run this race in her memory.***
