My story

Hi there

I'm freaking out (in a good way!) I'm taking part in the Funny Women 10th Anniversary Charity Challenge. This event is gathering together 10 women, who have never done comedy before to do stand up for the first time.

We'll all be raising money for good causes, and my chosen charity is an incredible organisation, of which I've recently become a patron, called RAFT. Let me tell you a little bit about them.

RAFT stands for Restoration of Appearance and Function Trust and was set up 23 years ago by a team of plastic surgeons who all shared a passion for supporting research and education in the fields of reconstructive plastic surgery and burn injury treatment.

RAFT carries out incredible research into preventing and treating skin cancer, rebuilding damaged skin tissue, as in the case of burns and wounds and improving the movement of prosthetic limbs for amputees.

As you know, I have had a skin condition for more than 16 years. It has greatly affected my life, both negatively and postively. I believe I understand the trauma of having one's appearance changed. At times it has been scary and worrying. What I have gained from having this illness actually far outweighs what I've lost.

I would love it if you could donate to RAFT through me. I am aiming to raise £500. Please dig deep and I'll let you know how the evening goes.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. No rotten tomatoes!

With love

Sharon
