The care Dylan received and the support we had from all the staff in unit was exceptional and helped considerably during a joyful, but difficult time. We were fortunate that Dylan was one of the healthiest babies in SCBU since the unit deals with babies from 23 weeks gestation and around 1lb upwards. Travelling to hospital everyday to visit Dylan was exhausting, but we took strength from other parents whose babies had been in SCBU for months. One family had to travel over 100 miles each time they visited their son during a seventh month period, whilst a little girl born at 25 weeks was discharged on the same day as Dylan.
The money that we raise from Dylan’s baptism will go directly towards Special Care Baby Unit Fund which is a specific part of the New Children’s Hospital Appeal Fund. We are still in contact with the nurses in SCBU and will be able to assist their decision on what the fundraising money will be spent on. We will be very grateful for any donations however small.
