Story

Well, the day has gone and it was actually pretty terrifying! Many, many thanks to everyone who donated so kindly and generously towards such a good cause - you're all brilliant!

The event as a whole has raised over £7000 towards the project which will make an enormous difference to the successful running of the project in 2012 and keeping the rides free for all participants.

On Sunday 13th November I will be abseiling off a huge former tobacco warehouse in central Bristol to raise funds for a project called Two's Company:

Two’s Company, run by charity Life Cycle UK, is a project which gives visually impaired and disabled people in Bristol opportunities to come cycling on the back of a tandem.

The rides are enjoyable days out for people who are not capable of riding a bike on their own and offer valuable opportunities to socialise and make new friends. A typical ride has up to eight tandems, each with a sighted person at the front and a visually impaired/disabled co-rider behind. The project is making a real difference to the lives of visually impaired and disabled people:

“For me the whole idea of the Two's Company programme is superb, giving me the opportunity to take part in an activity otherwise denied me. The enthusiasm and commitment from all those involved is great.” Tony, Two's Company participant

Rides are currently offered free of charge. However, keeping this fantastic service free in 2012 requires your help!

I will be joining a group of project participants (some of them completely blind) and well wishers to try and raise much needed funds for the project. Together we hope to raise £5000.

The last time I abseiled was about 15 years ago and, having seen the size of the building, I'm certainly feeling nervous!

Please give generously to help keep this fantastic service free for 2012 - and don't forget to Gift Aid!
