In his first ever Marathon, actor ED SPELEERS ran the London Marathon on 17 April 2011 in support of the charity YouthNet. He finished the race in 3 hours 40 mins, placing him in the top 15% of all runners participating. You can read below why Ed ran in support of YouthNet, and please show your support and congratulate Ed on his great time by making a donation. Thank you.
Ed says, "on Sunday 17 April I will be running 26.2 miles in the London Marathon and raising money for TheSite.org, YouthNet's online support service for 16 to 25-year-olds.
Providing non-judgmental advice and support, TheSite.org ensures that young people have a safe and trusted place to turn 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I've seen from meeting people just like Hannah (her story follows) that TheSite.org can truly change lives and with your support, YouthNet will be able to reach even more young people throughout the UK in some of their darkest moments."
“I was bullied throughout school. Girls attacked me but I felt that adults were doing nothing to help. To help me cope I stopped eating. I despised myself...I started to self-harm…I tried to kill myself five times. I turned to TheSite.org for help. Because it is anonymous and non-judgmental I opened up in a way that I hadn’t been able to before. For the first time it felt like people were interested in me and how I was feeling and I finally understood what I could do to help myself.”
