I am aiming to run an extra mile by doing the ASICS Stockholm Marathon on the 28 May 2011 to raise funds for a conservation organization that does so much for the protection and preservation of the Colobus monkey.
I know Luciana Parazzi who runs the Colobus Trust, based in Diani, South Coast Kenya. I have a huge amount of respect for her and her team. The Kenyan Wildlife Service have the Colobus highlighted as endangered in Kenya because of their declining numbers in association with the fragmentation of forests along the coast. The Colobus Trust has a real impact on the future of the Colobus.
The Colobus Trust is a not for profit conservation organisation working to preserve the future of the Nationally Threatened Angolan Black and White Colobus monkey (Colobus angolensis palliatus) through forest protection, reducing and resolving human-wildlife conflict and raising awareness. Have a look at their website: www.colobustrust.org
I will be fundraising through The International Primate Protection League. IPPL are a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the world's remaining primates and they are hosting this just giving page for The Colobus Trust as they are one of their main supporters.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
I am running so as to ask you to please help The Colobus Trust to protect something worth protecting by donating to this run for monkeys.
