Its gone! On 15th October 2009 as organised, I visited Revive @ Tyrers in St Helens to have the length of my hair cut off for charity. The lovely Lynne Borrowdale managed to chop 15 inches off the length of my hair to send off to have a wig made. I have updated this site with some pictures, please browse through them.
I would like to thank everybody who has supported me through this campaign, Ali Tyrer, Nicky Saunders from Willowbrook Hospice, Lynne herself who made a lovely job of my hair, my family & friends, work contacts & staff at Tickles. Most of all I would like to thank everybody todate who has made a donation to Willowbrook Hospice, I am deeply touched by peoples generosity, as of today's date (21st) I have raised so far £407 - Brilliant!

In August 2007 I read an article in OK magazine relating to Hilary Swank having the length of her hair cut off in conjunction with Pantenes "Beautiful Lengths Campaign", I was very touched by this article. Over the past few years I have known and seen some very brave people deal with various effects relating to Cancer, a friend who died, my sister-in-law & two other female friends who both lost their hair whilst having chemotheraphy treatment.
Inspired by these people and the OK article I decided I would like to do something to raise money to help towards the care and support that Cancer patients recieve.
Having been teased at school for having red hair, as a youngster I didn't really like my own hair and can emparthise with people who loose their self confidence through illness, in adult-hood however you learn to appreciate what you've been given. As a woman I can't imagine what it must be like to loose your hair along with being told that you need treatment for an illness, so if my locks can provide someone with more confidence during a difficult process then I wanted to grow my hair and donate it to a charity that provide wigs for people who suffer hair loss.
I hear you say "it took two years to grow?" well actually it didn't, stupidly last Christmas I had some layers put in my hair and the hairdressers (who shall remain nameless!) made a bit of a mess so I had to have 5 inches cut off - hense the additional time delay.
I told my story to a friend (Nicky Suanders) who works as a fundraiser for Willowbrook Hospice in St Helens and that's where this campaign started, Nicky obviously has alot of contacts within this area and without her help I would never have been able to pull everything together. My hair will be cut by Lynne Borrowdale from Revive @ Tyrers in St Helens who specialise in Synthetic and Real Hair wigs, Revive also offer a personal service for anybody who has suffered or is suffering from hair loss. I have worked in St Helens for more years than I care to remember and am delighted to be involved with other companies & organisations like Tyrers and Willowbrook Hospice with this project - its been a good experience! Thank you to Lynne, Ali Tyrer & Nicky Saunders for all your support.
So my hair will be chopped at approx. 1pm on Thursday 15th October at Revive in Tyrers, Lynne will then send it off to a specialist wig maker, who I believe will pay me for the length of hair, this money will also be donated to Willowbrook, it would be nice if "my wig" could come back into the area but I'm not sure that will happen but who knows.
I must also thank my supporters from my place of work Tickle Hall Cross Solicitors, Sally you may have thought that your "go on get it all cut off" didn't inspire me but it did & Mae I think you were beginning to think it would never happen, well can you believe its here?
If you have enjoyed my story and would like to support me in my quest to raise money for a very worthy cause I would be grateful for your donation.
