I am planning to take on the Trionium Greensands Marathon which is planned to be “a tough marathon-length challenge taking in the tops of the Greensand ridge in Surrey” (it says on the website) starting in Dorking on Sunday 25th October 2009 including a lot of climbing (total of 5200 feet of ascent and descent: a vertical mile)….so I may be quite knackered afterwards and I hope to be able to complete it! (What have a I let myself in for?!)
The aim of putting myself through 14 weeks of exhaustive training and the torture of this marathon is to raise money for TOFS (Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula Support), a UK-based charity dedicated to providing emotional support to families of children born with this group of conditions. It is a rare congenital condition that affects one in every 3,500 babies. Surgery to repair the abnormality is required when the baby is only a few fays old and the children often require further operations afterwards. The children often have breathing difficulties and are unable to eat properly.
I know this charity and the work they do to be of considerate help and support through Katie having looked after babies with this condition. I hope that you can spare a few pennies to help me achieve my target of raising 300 pounds for this charity…and also by sponsoring me it means that I really have to complete it fully and not allowed to give up and stop at the cake shop I’ll be running past at the top of Leith Hill!
Many thanks in advance for your generosity.
Elliott
