Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the London Marathon in memory of my beautiful Mum who I lost in 2009. After fighting cancer for 5 years it came back for the 4th time and cruelly took her away from her much loved family. She spent the last few weeks of her life in the wonderful Severn Hospice in Shrewsbury who provided inspirational care, love and attention that enabled her to start living again after a dreadful period in hospital. The doctors, nurses and staff at the Severn Hospice are all truely amazing people of which many are volunteers who work for this charitable organisation.

I wanted to do something to help the Hospice for every moment, smile, laugh, hug and kind words they gave to my Mum and so decided to run a race I have always wanted to do but never had the legs to do it and really still haven't! Once I said I was running the marathon Brian offered his support and promised to drag me along when I collapse at the half way point, I am sure he regretted that offer immediately.

With 2 young children I have been training in the dark once they are asleep and nobody can recognise me, so the race will be one of the first times I will run in daylight! My memories of my Mum and knowing the boys will be on the finish line will hopefully help me get around as well as the encouragement of the much fitter Mr Yates.

Please dig deep and support us, Severn Hospice need our help to keep going every day and provide the outstanding care they do.
