Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have taken on the challenge of running the 2010 Virgin London Marathon, im raising money for a fantastic charity called CORE, this charity is fighting gut and liver disease.  The reason i have choosen this charity is that my partner 2 years ago ended up very ill.  He was in hospital for 6 weeks with his liver not functioning properly..  after many tests and scans we are no further forward as to what has caused him to become ill.  He is still under a consultant and under going tests.  He is living a normal live and is extremley fit and healthy apart from this problem with his liver.  Then last year my sister-in-law ended up having to have a liver transplant at the age of 18 with all the same symptoms as my partner.  CORE can help to continue to research gut and liver disease so hopefully in the future people will be able to get treatment as soon as they have symptoms and pin point exactly what are causing these problems.

I would be so grateful if you could donate to this charity and support me to raise as much money as possible to help save lives and make sure families dont have to go through what my family has been through.

Core – formerly the Digestive Disorders Foundation – is the only charity in the UK that that funds research into all the diseases that affect the gut and liver. We are called Core because the digestive system, from the oesophagus to the bowel, is at the core of our body and a good digestive system is the core of good health.

We are entirely dependant on voluntary donations.

The charity was established in 1971 with the help and support of the British Society of Gastroenterology. Today it supports Clinical Research Fellows and Research Scientists at hospitals and universities throughout the UK, investigating conditions such as pancreatitis, hepatitis, ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease and digestive cancers. All research that we fund is rigorously peer-reviewed. The members of our Research Awards Committee, which makes the decisions about what research we fund, are highly respected scientists and doctors who are acknowledged throughout the world as experts in their fields.

Our funding is also an important element in providing training to young researchers at the beginning of their scientific or medical careers.
