I’m not quite sure why, but I’ve decided to do a triathlon of events this year. I’ll start with swimming a mile at the Great East Swim at Alton Water and will continue with the Suffolk Coast Bike Ride in August and then finally, the Royal Parks half marathon in October.
I’ve also decided that this great effort (great effort for me anyway) should spur me on to raise a bit of money for charity. So, I’ve chosen two equally deserving charities:
The first is to support a project at work organised by Suffolk County Council called Destination Gold. Through Suffolk Sports Aid, Adnams is sponsoring two up-and-coming athletes – triathlete Abbie Thorrington and wheelchair racer Brian Alldis. Part of the money will go directly to Brian and Abbie to support their training in their bid to reach the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The remainder will go to young people in Suffolk to help them achieve their dreams of progressing in their chosen sports. You can help me raise money for this charity through this page.
The other charity is another local one - my dad suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and every week he attends the Rheumatoid Arthritis Group at Ipswich Hospital. The Group offers hydrotherapy treatments, exercises as well as advice
I’d really love to give both these charities a boost through the coming months of me swimming, cycling and running – if only to remind myself that there is a reason why I’ve decided to do this. So, if you are able to part with a little cash (obviously a lot of cash is warmly welcomed!) I would greatly appreciate it.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
thank you so much for your support
Emma
