This project has become a labour of love for us both and as the raising of funds is paramount, the raising of awareness is a key objective.
We will leave you with these statistics: 40 years ago, 3% of people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer survived 5 years or more. That figure is still 3%. Putting in more stark terms, for every 100 people diagnosed with this disease, 97 of them will not live for 5 years. Each year, around 7,000 people in the are diagnosed and there are more than 6,600 deaths. This type of cancer is the 5th most common cause of cancer death in the , and has the lowest survival rate of all cancers. There is no early detection test, treatment is limited and there is no cure. Because symptoms generally do not appear until the disease is well advanced, the average survival time after diagnosis is just 6 months. 100% of all donations to this charity go into the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund to promote and support this much needed research.
