I can't believe I am running the London Marathon! Argh!

I am so pleased to be running for a charity in which I believe and have a personal association with. I taught Lily's sisters Katie and Rosie to swim and sadly never had the pleasure of teaching Lily, due to her untimely, early death. The family are inspiring and the girls bright, beautiful and full of fun. I really appreciate being given the chance to fulfill one of my lifetime ambitions but more than that am proud to be raising money for a charity that will save children's lives and improve their prospects.

The charity have asked me to raise £2000 and I have now done that so I have increased my target to £2,500.

10.04.10

It has taken me a week to recover from my 20 mile run which I managed to complete in 3hr 44min. I was too tired and sore to be pleased with myself but was ecstatic the next day. Thank you Lee and Andy for motivating me, riding your bikes along side me handing me sweets. I have decided that fruit pastilles are the motivation I need at 17 miles.

I am getting ever closer to my target and would be deligthed to achieve £3000. Thank you to Amanda and Duncan for their support from Arbonne.

26.3.10

Thank you everyone for what was a really successful evening last night. Between us we raised £730 for Help the Hospices and the Lily Foundation. Mark and I have split the proceeds for our charities and have now both hit our charity targets. I am off to do a ten mile run with a very big smile on my face although I am exhausted. Thank you all for your support.

21.03.10

The big day is fast approaching now. I have eased off my training over the last two weeks due to a sore knee but am on the mend and hope to run my longest training run of 21 miles on Easter Monday, the day after my birthday. I am regulalry easily running 10 miles and am totaling between 24-35 miles in a week so I think I will be okay.

If you are reading this and are free this Friday (26th March) please feel free to come along to my final fundraising event. We are holding a quiz nigth at Langshott school from 7:30pm

22.02.10

I ran my first race! The Sussesx Beacon half marathon yesterday was fab but freezing. There was driving sleet for most of the race. I was delighted with my time though 2hrs5mins! YEAH! The kids and Steve were so loyal standing in the cold supporting me. I am sore but happy.

9.02.10

Thank you to the kind gentlement and lady at Reigate Rotary. Liz (from the Lily Foundation) and myself visited them today. They were moved by Lily's story and will be making a contribution to the charity shortly.

08.02.10

My training partners are doing a fantastic job. Andy is running the Rome marathon in March so I am a little ahead of schedule as I am trying to keep up with him. We ran 15 miles on Sunday - the first time I have ever run that far. I was so pleased with myself, I wasn't sick and we ran it it 2hrs 25minutes. Just for a challenge I am running the Brighton Half Marathon on 21st February.

Thank you everyone for your support so far. You are wonderful people.

24/1/10

The snow put my my training on hold but I am now up to 10miles! Yeah! I have run 10 miles twice, today by myself and last Sunday with Lee. Thanks Lee for being such a fab training partner. Thank you everyone for your support.

7/12/09

A little update. Training had been going well. I have new trainers as I kept getting blisters every time I ran over 6miles. Simply Sports in Reigate kindly agreed to change them as they just weren't the right type to run a marathon in! I was relieved as I really didn't want to spend £100 and my feet would take a week to recover every time I ran 6 milies. I celebrated by running 8 miles blister free. This was the first time I had ever run 8 miles! Yippee! However, this was two weeks ago and I have had a rather nasty bug since. It's a busy time at school so I have had to conserve my energy and focus on the children instead of running. I am now almost recovered and am looking forward to a good run on Sunday - watch this space.

Thank you Lynn for my latest donation and to my colleagues on the Graduate Teacher Programme who put money in my collection tin on Friday. My father-in-law has pledged £100. £50 for having a go and £50 if I finnish! Is there any question that I will finnish?

9/11/09

Well - after three weeks of struggling to find any time to train I decided to just get on with it. Andy and Lee (who ran last year for the Round Table's Children's Wish) accompanied me on a 6 mile (10k) run. This was my longest since 31st August. It was dark and freezing but I now have a running hat and gloves! My asthma gave me a few problems but I shall up my medication and hopefully give it a few weeks and I'll be coping with the cold air a little better. So my training programme now consists of short circuit based runs at 6am (Aargh!!!!!) a few times a week followed by longer run once a fortnight with Andy and Lee. I hope to up to 15 miles by Christmas.

Thank you Janice and Suzan for your donations, I am now a sixth of the way to my target!
