Story
Towards the end of 2016 I came to the realization that all of my highlights from the previous 12 months were from selfish endeavors; 'I won this', 'I received that'. Essentially my year had been spent fulfilling my own requirements. Then, after a little soul searching and assistance from Google, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the following quote;
'I shall pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.' (Etienne de Grellet, 1773 - 1855)
I refuse to let another year be focused around me. 2017 will be a year of giving and what better gift to give than that of life itself. St. Teresa's Hospice does just that - gives life. The charity helps 'anyone with a life-limiting illness which is no longer responding to curative treatment'; with the 'aim to help people to live with their illness and provide support to their carers.' To help raise money for such a worthy cause I will be completing 12 challenge events in 12 months. All donations will go directly to St. Teresa's. The challenges include;
- National 3 Peak Challenge
- Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge
- The Lakes 3000's Challenge
- The Great North Run
- Hadrian's Wall Challenge
- The Teesdale Way
- Plus many more to be announced in due course
All of the above will then culminate in a 15 day trek to Everest Base Camp as my final and 12th challenge.
The deeds of giving are the very foundations of our world. Make 2017 the year you give to St. Teresa's, to comfort another with life, away from the pain and symptoms that make them think of anything but living.
If you decide not to donate, thank you for your time visiting this page. Time is all that we have which is genuinely ours, so I truly appreciate you giving yours to read this. If you do donate, a sincere thank you doesn't seem sufficient but a thank you is what I bestow to you for ensuring the remaining time others have is in the best of environments, surrounded by those who can provide the best of support.
The very best of wishes to all.
Emma
