My story

Hello,

Firstly may I thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I have set myself the solo challenge of riding to 15 capital cities in Northern Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic’s in a mere 7 days. I will commence the challenge from my home borough of Ballymoney in County Antrim Northern Ireland (Yes the home town of the legendary and sadly missed Joey Dunlop) at 6.30am on Saturday 16th June 2007and aim to arrive in the 15th capital sometime in Day 7.  My trip will cover an estimated 4,650 land miles (averaging 660 miles per day...that's 12 hours/day in the saddle in any man's book) in addition to the nautical miles clocked up on 8 ferry crossings. I have extensive experience in touring throughout Europe over the past 10 years and understand the intensity of this challenge both mentally and physically but this experience coupled with my commitment & determination will see me through to a successful completion of the challenge.

The choice of bike for the trip is my Y2K Honda Fireblade RRY and the whistle stop tour will hopefully just about afford me enough time to take a snapshot at significant landmarks in each of the following capital cities:

DUBLIN - LONDON - PARIS - BRUSSELLS - AMSTERDAM - COPENHAGEN - OSLO - STOCKHOLM - HELSINKI - TALLINN - RIGA - VILNIUS - WARSAW - BERLIN - LUXEMBOURG

All expenses associated with the challenge will be borne by myself and a number of friends and business associates to whom I am deeply indebted to for their support. So you can rest assured that 100% of any and all donations made through this site and other means will go directly to Riders for Health........GUARANTEED !!!

Aside from fund raising for Riders for Health via this website, my challenge is also aimed at raising much needed funds for three other worthy 'associate' charitable organisations close to my own heart - Belfast City Hospital Cancer Unit, Antrim Area Hospital ICU and The Royal Victoria Hospital ICU & Fractures Clinic. (Those closest to me know the reasons why and the debt we owe to the staff of these acute service hospitals). I have a separate fund account (no banking fees, thanks to the Bank of Ireland) set up for collecting donations on a direct basis and at local community level for the hospital trusts and as with the funds raised for Riders, 100% of all donations will go directly to the departments within the named hospital trusts......... GUARANTEED !!!

Donating to Riders for Health through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Riders for Health will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please dig deep for a worthy cause and donate as much or as little as you can now and remember my target figure is just that...a target.....should your generosity exceed the 5k mark, just think of the additional good that will come of it.....!!!!

Many thanks for your support..................................................
Ogie.
