Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I recently applied to become a volunteer for the International Citizen Service (ICS) working in countries across the world on various life changing projects. I will be working with Challenges Worldwide and Africa is my destination. I will be supporting young volunteers from the UK to work in communities in Africa.
This year has been certainly different - I took redundancy so that at the age of 40 I was in a position to volunteer for ICS as they are more longer term projects and need volunteers who are available for up to three - nine months. After working on the National Citizen Service (NCS) I saw first hand the positive impact this had on young people and the communities they supported and ICS will be no different apart from the projects being held internationally!
I have volunteered for many years and currently I am an Independent Visitor for Sova and mentor for Action for Children; RNIB.
The money I raise is NOT to fund ME to go to Africa - its for the International Citizen Service and helping to change lives across the world.
Any money raised beyond my target will go to the RNIB and Cancer Research in loving memory of my mum who was registered as a Blind person for many years and sadly passed away of Cancer in 2011.
